# First-party event data, attribution-ready

SourceMedium reads your RudderStack behavioral events straight from its BigQuery warehouse destination, then runs them through funnel and multi-touch attribution models so on-site behavior links to orders.

## Integration Snapshot

- Platform: RudderStack
- Category: Site Analytics & Attribution
- Availability: Generally available
- Documentation: [View docs](https://sourcemedium.com/docs/data-inputs/platform-integration-instructions/rudderstack-integration)

## Why teams connect RudderStack

RudderStack streams your first-party site events to your warehouse without third-party pixels. SourceMedium picks them up from BigQuery and turns them into session-to-order funnels and attribution, unified with every other tracking source.

## Key capabilities

- Warehouse-native events: SourceMedium reads RudderStack events directly from BigQuery, so there's no additional pixel or API connection to build or maintain.
- Full-funnel tracking: Page views, cart, checkout steps, and purchases map to canonical funnel events for drop-off and conversion analysis.
- Multi-touch attribution: First-party events feed SourceMedium's MTA models to connect touchpoints to revenue.
- Unified with other sources: RudderStack events land in the same funnel table as GA4, Snowplow, and other tracking sources for consistent reporting.

## Example BigQuery tables

- `obt_funnel_event_history`: Unified funnel events (source_system = 'rudderstack')
- `obt_orders`: Orders for session-to-order and purchase linking
- `rpt_funnel_events_performance_hourly`: Hourly event aggregation for conversion monitoring

## Common enrichments

- RudderStack events mapped to canonical funnel events
- Deduplicated via RudderStack's event views
- First-party events linked to attributed orders

## Questions you can ask

- What's our checkout completion rate by step?
- Where are customers dropping off in the funnel?
- What's our add-to-cart to purchase conversion rate?
- Which traffic sources drive the most purchases?
- How does funnel performance trend week over week?

## How it works

1. Enable RudderStack's BigQuery destination: Connect your event sources to a BigQuery warehouse destination in RudderStack.
2. Coordinate the destination: For the standard managed deployment, SourceMedium provides the BigQuery project, dataset, and service account. Customer-owned deployments are configured during scoping.
3. Validate and sync: SourceMedium maps your events to canonical funnel events and begins funnel and attribution reporting.
